Yesterday night on 8th October 2019 while the city celebrated Dussehra (A festival which celebrates victory of good over evil) a caregiver Mr Jassi a resident of Janak Puri Block C4 was being harassed and mentally tortured for feeding a dog who probably had bitten someone (his mobile number is 91-9810842124). The residents came out with sticks in their hands to kill the dog. Today morning too the caregiver is being harassed. What are the law enforcement agencies doing? Many dogs are dying a painful death due to lack of protection and misinformation about rabies. Either they are being beaten to death or they are being poisoned. Dogs do not bite without provocation and people all the time provoke them.
People have already decided that the dog is rabid and needs to be killed. His presence in the locality is a threat to their children and society.
This absurdity is all around the city of Delhi and both the dogs and the caregivers are constantly under threat both physical and mental.
Under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act the dog as well as the caregivers are to be protected. Where is the enforcement of this law???
