We are making progress!
There is a planned pilot to close a section of Griffith Park Drive that will be in effect starting on June 27th. The road will be closed from Travel Town to the backside of Mt Hollywood Dr. The closure is for all personal vehicles.
Per an announcement in CD4’s newsletter:
“In collaboration with our office, the Department of Recreation & Parks is piloting this closure to observe the effects on eliminating cut through freeway traffic and excessive speeding, and work towards making roads safer for passive recreation. Any unforeseen impacts on park operations will be addressed immediately.”
There has been some campaigning against this, so we are asking that you send your feedback in support of the closure to: rap-gpab@lacity.org.
This is a step in the right direction to bringing our park back to the people and making it safer for ALL users.
Comment below if you have any suggestions of how to ensure this is permanent.
Thank you for your continuing support on this issue!
All the best,
Damian Kevitt
