Make good on your promise and pay all agency staff at King's the Living Wage now!

On the 30th November 2013 it will be three years to the day since King's College Council committed to paying the Living Wage to out-sourced staff. We applaud this decision by King's but this needs action now, not in 2017 when the biggest contract will be renewed. For the cleaners and other out-sourced staff that work at King's that is three more years of poverty pay on insecure contracts with only the bare legal minimum of holiday, sick pay and pension rights.
This summer, UCL implemented the London Living Wage for all of their staff after committing to pay the Living Wage in September 2010. They joined LSE, the Institute of Education, Queen Mary College, SOAS, Birkbeck, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Senate House and Goldsmiths in paying the Living Wage to all their staff. King's has been left behind in their slow implementation of the living wage. This is damaging to the reputation of the university.
We, the undersigned, applaud the decision of King’s College Council in November 2010 to agree its contract staff are paid the living wage. It is now 2013 and our contract cleaning staff are still being paid the minimum wage. We demand that the college honour their moral obligations without delay.
