Despite months of outreach, community advocacy, public comments, and support from families across the region, CCPS has NOT included Diwali as a holiday in the proposed 2027-28 school calendar.

We need our community to speak up NOW.

Suggested message:
“I respectfully request that CCPS recognize and observe Diwali on Nov. 9, 2026, in support of equity, inclusion, and the growing South Asian community.”

Why this matters:
• Neighboring school districts already recognize Diwali
• Hundreds of families have already voiced support
• Diwali is one of the most important holidays for Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Buddhist families
• Recognition promotes inclusion and belonging for students in our community
