Today a message went viral on various whatsapp groups where  few people from Noida, Uttar Pradesh were to hold meeting in the evening to find solutions as to how to get rid of being bitten by stray dogs in their colonies and societies. The meeting was to take place at 5:30 PM in Maxwell White House Sector 75, Noida. And the invitees for the meeting  were all the residents and RWAs who are terrified with stray animals especially stray dogs. The main speakers in the meeting were Meghna Uniyal, Naveen Mishra and Joginder Singh. These people have been working on this issue for quite some time now. Joginder Singh was the person who imposed fine on residents who were seen feeding stray dogs. The meeting was open to the journalists. To read the message kindly go on the link below:

Well it's such a pity that these people have to be told again and again that the only solution to get rid of dogs biting them is to show compassion towsrds them. They need to feed them and love them. Dogs bite due to provocation. And unfortunately majority of the people in India do not know how to behave with dogs. They shoo them all the time, beat them, kill them and relocate them. They have a fear that a dog bite will infect them with rabies. This is utter nonsense. A bite from a healthy dog will not cause rabies in humans. The myth that stray dogs are rabid and dirty have to be busted. 

Sterilization and rabies vaccination is not taking place in a systematic manner. At many places its not even taking place so the result is uncontrolled population.  Caregivers can immensely help in steriization and vaccination of stray dogs but they are often penalized and abused and stopped from feeding dogs. 

If only these people who have called meeting  had focused on sterilization of dogs in their colonies and societies and the UP Govt had focused on the adoption of stray dogs then this kind of an ugly situation would have never occurred. 

It is human menace which is the root cause of so much chaos and hatred for the Indian dog. And it is the municipal corporation pan India which is largely responsible for all this. It has failed  to implement the ABC program in a  susccessful manner and it has failed to create right awareness about the Indian dog. 

The Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched a 24 hour helpline number for the stray  and abandoned animals to provide them with emergency Healthcare services.

It's very important that more and more celebrities of India come forward to feed the Stray. This will definitely change the negative mindset of people towards dogs. 

A man hit a dog with a stick. When the reporter objected to his objectionable behaviour he defended himself by saying he hit the dog lightly and had he not hit him he would have bitten the children.

This happens almost all the time in India. People just hit dogs without any reason. They feel hitting them stops dogs from biting and barking at them. But the opposite happens and later when the dog barks at them or bites them then they call meetings of like minded people to find solutions to get rid of being bitten by dogs.
