Following on from the media coverage last year and the support shown through the petition, I wanted to share a really positive update.
As a direct response to the petition, the parish council proposed a 20mph speed limit for Conham Hill / Church Road, with the inclusion of Vicarage Road and Henderson Road. This proposal was fully backed by the parish council and formally submitted to South Gloucestershire Council.
South Gloucestershire Council follow a five-stage process for these schemes. I’m pleased to share that stages 1 and 2 are now complete, and stage 3 is currently underway. From here, we’re working to SGC timescales, but the proposal is very much live and progressing.
A huge thank you to Neil Barnes for his work on this from within the parish council, and for keeping the issue moving forward — it’s genuinely appreciated. Thanks also to everyone who signed, shared, commented, and kept this conversation going. Your support is the reason this has been taken seriously and acted upon.
I’ll continue to share updates as things move through the remaining stages. For now, thank you again for your patience, your support, and for caring about making this stretch of road safer for everyone.
Here’s to a safer year ahead 💛
