Unfortunately, the federal government has still not made key changes to stop gouging and abuses by Canada's Big Banks.  

Canada’s Big 6 Banks gouged out more than $58 billion in profits in 2023 (almost triple their 2010 profits), paid their CEOs an average of $12 million each, and gave out more than $21 billion in total bonuses to employees.  The Big Bank CEOs and employees were given these huge salaries and bonuses even though customer complaints about bank interest rates fees and poor service increased in 2023.

The Big Banks spend tens of millions of dollars each year lobbying to protect their high profits and their multi-million dollar executive salaries and bonuses.  They have these tens of millions of dollars to spend because they gouge it out of your pocket through excessively high interest rates and banking fees.

Without your support, we won't have the resources needed to counter the Big Bank lobby and win changes to protect you and your family from being gouged and abused.

Please also click here now to send your letter to Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland and all federal political party leaders and key MPs on the House and Senate finance committees calling for key changes to stop the gouging and abuse.  They are reviewing the banking laws in 2024 and need to be pushed to finally make these much-needed changes.

So far, despite the Liberals making 5 bank accountability promises in their 2021 election platform, they have done very little, and nothing effective, to require the banks to give everyone who needs it a real break, and to ensure the banks stop gouging and treating their customers unfairly.
