to stop discrimination by banks, and ensure they help more during the coronavirus crisis, and after.

For more than 30, years, the U.S. government has required banks to disclose their lending and service record by race, gender, income and neighbourhood, and required them to take corrective action if they are found to be discriminating against any of their customers.

In contrast, despite broad support for key changes for more than 20 years, Canadian governments have done nothing to stop discrimination by our banks.

The federal government and all political parties need to be pushed more – they still haven’t done anything since the crisis began to require the banks to give everyone who needs it a real break, and they have done nothing to ensure the banks don’t continue gouging and discriminating and treating their customers unfairly after the crisis is over.
