Hi friends,

Last night we held the National AID Access Summit, a huge step forward in our grassroots push for equitable access to AID. The summit brought together a diverse group of people with lived experience, clinicians, economists, behavioural researchers, health fund experts, and diabetes organisations from all corners of Australia.

We were fortunate to have Mike Freelander MP, Chair of the Inquiry into Diabetes, deliver compelling opening remarks on the transformational impact of AID and the need to improve access. Prof Partha Kar (T1D Tech Lead, NHS England) provided valuable insights on the UK’s successful journey to AID access, while Meaghan Read shared the life-changing impact AID has had on her & her family.

With diabetes organisations across Australia joining the chat (including JDRF, Diabetes Australia, ACBRD, Diabetes VIC/WA/SA, Healthy Living NT, ACADI, and many more), this gathering showcased a strong collective commitment to ensure equitable access to AID becomes a reality.

A comprehensive report is being developed. There is much more to come, and your continued support is crucial.

What can you do to help?

  1. Share the petition – Forward this to your family, friends, and foes. The more signatures we gather, the stronger our voice.
  2. Talk to your local MP about access to AID – you can find them here.

Thanks for standing with us. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of all Australians living with type 1 diabetes.

All the best!
