Hello again all,

Just a reminder that all comments to the Infectious Disease Society regarding their guidelines for treatment of cUTI, which does not include recommending testing to determine what bacteria to treat, are due in by tomorrow. All you need to do is send an email to practiceguidelines@idsociety.org.  They do respond, and are dismissing comments asking for testing, saying that the guielines are not for diagnosis but rather empirical treatment. Yet how can they treat without knowing what bacteria it is? So please share your stories of being treated this way, prescribed round after round of antibiotic and not getting any better. Ask them where is he recommendation to get a proper diagnosis before treating? While we all agree no one wants to wait 3 days with an infection for a culture result, remember that MicroGen doesnt grow anything, and their turnaround time is closer to 1 day. I would be willing to wait to make sure I got the right medication, wouldn't you? Please send in your stories, this is our opportunity to make a difference!

I wish healing on everyone, thank you to those who joined our zoom last night, and thank you to everyone sending in their stories. We are the only ones who can advocate for us!
