Remove Rob Manfred As Acting Commissioner of MLB

The Issue

America's past time is in trouble and desperately needs your help. Help us to preserve the game of baseball the way you know it and the way you LOVE IT!

Rob Manfred was officially named commissioner of Major League Baseball in January of 2015. Since that time, Rob Manfred has fixated on something he calls, 'Pace of Play'. His ultimate goal is to shorten the overall time a major league baseball game takes to play in its entirety and will stop at nothing to do so.

In 2017, the average MLB game took three hours and five minutes to complete. Manfred would like this number to be under three hours. He has shown a very eager willingness to sacrifice the nuance and the traditions of baseball in the process just to shorten a game by mere five minutes. As each attempt has done nothing to speed the pace of play or overall time of game, Mr. Manfred's idea's are becoming significantly more radical with each final out. He has already implemented a limitation on how many times a pitcher can discuss a strategy with his catcher, fielders and or coaches. He has done away with the classic intentional walk and has replaced this with the 'no-pitch' intentional walk where the manager simply signals to the umpire with four fingers held up. As for the minor leagues, Manfred has also adopted a twenty second pitch clock, as well as starting an inning with a runner on second base if any game goes into extra innings.

Some other ideas Manfred is considering to speed the game up at the Major League level:

• Pitch clock
• Limitation on pickoffs
• Starting extra innings with runners on base
• Mercy rule
• Raise strike zone to top of knee
• Require relievers to face a minimum number of batters
• Limit number of relievers on a roster
• Limit the number of defensive shifts
• Allow managers to reset the batting order in the 9th inning
• No extra innings at all - instead declaring the game a tie after nine innings

Manfred does not work well with the MLB Players Union on changes he deems important, already stating (or threatening) that he will implement change with or without the players approval. This will not end well as a strike or lock out appears imminent. The players have repeatedly said they do not think radical change is necessary. There is a balance to the game of baseball that can not be altered otherwise everything will be thrown off.

If you love America's Past Time and do not want to see the game being ruined by Rob Manfred, we need to stand up and let MLB know that they are going down a very dangerous road and we may never be able to get it back to where it was.

Please Help Us to Remove Rob Manfred As The Commissioner of Major League Baseball.
