Say No To Prescription Drug Monitoring Program: Kill LD2117

Say No To Prescription Drug Monitoring Program: Kill LD2117
The Issue
Tell the State of Maine you do not want the State monitoring when you have been prescribed a prescription drug or when you have filled that prescription. Tell the State of Maine you do not want any other facts about your health care and treatment held by the State in a State database. Tell the State of Maine your health care information is private and must be held only between you and your doctor.
LD2117 will end your right to medical privacy by allowing the State of Maine to collect your medical information, attached to your name and date of birth, in a database that can be accessed by various individuals, entities and organizations.
On July 10th, the Maine State Committee on Health and Human Services is holding a working meeting to address moving LD2117 forward.
Representative Patty Hymanson of York introduced this bill.
Currently, the State of Maine collects information surrounding when and to whom a scheduled prescription drug has been prescribed. The intent of this legislation has been created "as a means to promote the public health and welfare and to detect and prevent substance use disorder...and is not intended to interfere with the legitimate medical use of controlled substances."
Now, Representative Patty Hymanson wants this legislation modified via LD 2117 to allow the State to collect and identify everyone within the State who has been prescribed a prescription drug.
How will your privacy and your family's privacy be impacted if this legislation passes?
Tell the Maine State Committee for Human Health and Services, as well as your own representative, we hold a Constitutionally protected right to both general privacy and medical privacy.
Tell the legislators to kill LD 2117.
