At first, my goal was 1,000 signatures, which I thought would be a stretch. Once they started rolling in, at just over 2000, I wanted to aim for 27,000; 1,000 for each person diagnosed with a brain tumour every day in Canada. And now more than 30,000 people have participated.

Thanks to ALL of you who signed, shared, donated, shared again, and harassed every one that they could think of to add their name. And a big thank you to the Francophone community who helped push us over the finish line.

Many of you signed in honour of someone close to you who has died of brain cancer or has this terrible disease, or have it themselves. Others signed in sympathy, support, or out of frustration with inequitable drug access. Thank you for all your personal messages.

Before I was diagnosed with brain cancer, I took living for another month or year for granted. Now, with this large, inoperable tumour in my brain, I take NOTHING for granted: a conversation with one of my daughters, being able use my body at the gym, walking through the forest with my dog, laughing hysterically with my fiancé, being there to support my friends... The list is endless. After EVERY one of these moments, I am so appreciative that I am still here and capable of experiencing these beautiful things. What I wouldn't give to have another year of life, which, if this drug becomes available in Canada soon, I may have.

My next step is to send to petition to anyone who can make a difference, and then to send it again, and again, along with letters, and whatever else I can do.

Thanks to all of you from my bottom of my heart, and from many others in the brain tumour community, for helping making this important first step such a success.

Love,

Mia
