Luton Borough Council Statement.

We take the safety concerns of residents extremely seriously. Pedestrians are welcome to use the busway but it must be realised that some sections are unlit for a reason, and that designated areas where passengers can safely alight the bus are already well lit. New lighting was installed in the alleyway which links the busway to Jeans Way just three months ago.

A number of considerations must be taken into account when proposing new lighting - particularly along stretches of the busway which are designated County Wildlife sites - and we would look to work with our neighbours at Central Bedfordshire Council should we look to introduce any new lighting schemes.
