We're almost there!

Hello everyone! Thank you all so much for signing this petition. We are nearing our original goal of 1,000 people. That means it's time to start talking about the possibility of a dog park actually being built. I've been in touch with several Lubbock Parks and Recreation officials. They notified me it was no secret there is a desire for a dog park in Lubbock. They told me the biggest obstacle is funding. They told me they need funding for irrigation, maintenance, water for the dogs, and of course construction. Here's my background. I'm from Northern Virginia, where there is a plethora of dog parks. None of the dog parks I've encountered have irrigation, professional maintenance, or city-funded water for the dogs. Where I'm from, the park started with grass, but was mostly dirt; because if we're being honest, the dogs don't care if there's grass or not. They just want to have fun! Next, professional maintenance. The dog parks I've seen have been naturally maintained by the wonderful dog owners who visit everyday. And same goes for the water. Bowls are donated and brought in organically, and people bring in gallons of water as they visit, and there's never a shortage of water. I will never ask you for money to help fund this project. We are the people of the great city of Lubbock. We just need to show Parks and Rec how serious we are for this dog park to become a reality.
