Today is the birthday of both Franklin D. Roosevelt and current House Speaker Mike Johnson. FDR is an important president in terms of history and Mike Johnson is important in terms of this petition. FDR was the only president to serve more than two terms and was elected to four of them and then died early on in his 4th term. During his tenure, inauguration day moved from March 4 to January 20 and he died in April, so it's like he served 3 terms and a month rather than 3 terms and 2 and a half months. What's most well known for what happened during his reign as president is World War II and the end of the Great Depression. FDR was the reason behind the 22nd amendment that states presidents are limited to 2 terms. Mike Johnson would be an important figure for this petition as the Speaker of the House is the presiding officer of the House of Representatives and the way to lower the voting age to 16 is by another amendment, which has to get 2/3 votes from both chambers of Congress (then 3/4 of states). Johnson was born on this day in 1972 in Shreveport, Louisiana and Roosevelt was born on this day in 1882 in Hyde Park, New York.
I saw that we gained a signature since I last posted an update yesterday. We need 2 more to get to 50. Remember try to do as much as you can in sharing as we are SO CLOSE to our next goal
