Today is James Garfield’s birthday. He was born on this day in 1831 in Orange Township, Ohio. I know I would mention him briefly yesterday for Arthur’s death day as Garfield won the election in 1880. Garfield had served in the Ohio State Senate from 1859 to 1861. He then served in the Civil War. He left the military in 1863 to represent Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. Garfield had the second shortest presidential term at 199 days. He had committed himself to civil rights. I find earlier civil rights movements are inspirations for my lower the voting age movement. I’ll try my best to motivate everyone to do their best they can with this petition, by sharing and/or promoting and even leave a comment.
