Sorry there has been no update for a while but some of you may have seen the following on The Cinema Museum’s Facebook page. Here's an update about our current position. The wider piece of land on which The Cinema Museum (TCM) sits has now been sold by NHS South London & Maudsley Hospital Trust (SLaM) to a property developer called Anthology. The Museum directors met with Anthology prior to their exchange of contracts with SLaM to ensure that the new owners are clearly informed from the outset that the survival and sustainability of TCM is based on: 1) TCM being allowed to purchase their current home and the Male Receiving Wards on a minimum 250+ year lease 2) TCM being allowed to develop and extend their existing spaces to increase capacity 3) TCM being granted a minimum of three years to raise the capital funds for purchase and development and 4) that as a charity the Museum can pay Red Book Valuation only. At these meetings Anthology and TCM agreed to work closely with each other to bring these plans to fruition. TCM is approaching the future with their new owners Anthology in the spirit of trust and are hopeful that this new partnership will deliver a development that works for the developers, the Museum, our supporters and the people of Lambeth and Southwark. There will be a public meeting in September (which will be announced here and on our website) to update everyone as to the progress made, and TCM will issue regular public statements to keep all stakeholders and supporters informed. Phew! More on this, then, in September. Until then, thanks as always for your support, and come and see a film at our wonderful unique space soon ! Thanks, and please follow the Museum on Facebook or Twitter for the latest news and events Liz
