Petitioning Loudoun County Board of Supervisors

The Loudoun Board of Supervisors is considering Opting In to Metro and committing Loudoun to pay a huge share of bringing Metro into Loudoun County. If they act to move forward it will be done without first deciding who pays, the cost will be unknown, and the commitment is not reversible.

A popular alternative is a tax that would impose a mandatory surcharge an all property in Loudoun designated as Commercial or Industrial (C&I Tax). This alternative has been endorsed by the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce.

On an affected property valued at $500,000 the C&I Metro Tax would be $500-$850 per year...probably forever.

A study reported this to our Supervisors: “RCLCO has not found any credible evidence to indicate that the extension of rail transit brings new development to an entire region. RCLCO has assumed that if transit spurs faster or more intense development on one property then it must necessarily mean slower or less intense development on another in the region.”

This is not the hype you may be hearing from pro-rail messages supported by undisclosed entities and the Chamber leadership.

This message needs to be heard by the Board, “NO C&I METRO TAX” immediately or you will lose customers as you are forced to pass this cost along to them.
