An organization has just confirmed the touching of “a student's genitals, anus, breasts or buttocks” is not currently considered a violation of professional misconduct. See the attached press release. The press release fails to mention these crimes are covered in section 153 (1)  of the Criminal Code of Canada and section 21 Parties to an Offence. This professional organizations further admits they do not currently support sexual abused victims with therapy and counseling. Many Professional Organizations claim their membership are required to have a Criminal Record Check before becoming a member. Professional groups ignore the fact a Criminal Record can be legally expunged/removed by jumping through legal hoops. To the best of my knowledge professional organizations in Canada do not require their members to report crime to the police. If a Teacher, Psychologist, Lawyer, Dentist, Doctor or other professional becomes aware or witnessed a crime under the Canadian Criminal Code the professionals should report the crimes to the police. Ignoring a crime is a violation of the Criminal Code of Canada.
