Dear fellow LACMA Lover,

Thank you for joining 2444 concerned citizens who have signed the petition urging the Los Angeles County Supervisors to reconsider their approval of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for LACMA's redevelopment plan.

Today’s press clipping is quite honestly a weird one, and it shines some light on the past very weird week in our work advocating for transparency and a public voice in LACMA’s future.

If you happened to see one or both of the full page ads criticizing the LACMA redevelopment plan and using the phrase “Save LACMA” and mentioning a petition, you might have assumed the non-profit Save LACMA was behind them. We sit on that organization’s board, and the ads were a completely surprise to us.

Reporter Matt Stromberg got curious, and uncovered the strange tale of the architecture critics who semi-anonymously took to buying ads to question all that’s happening at LACMA. They’re not wrong, but as board president Rob Hollman told Stromberg, they shouldn’t be using the name of a registered non-profit. Especially not when criticizing another non-profit like LACMA management Museum Associates for shady behavior!

Please keep sharing the petition link (http://chng.it/PBQw6hhzdX) with your friends who love LACMA and want it to remain at the heart of our city's culture and community. And stay tuned for updates as we have them.

Yours for Los Angeles,
Kim Cooper & Richard Schave
