There have been so many terrible aspects of Barbara Ferrer's leadership at LA County Dept of Public Health, and one of the worst is her complete lack of compassion for children, and the restrictions that have been placed on them for over two years now. 

LACDPH was instrumental in keeping schools closed the longest in the nation; they were forced to mask when the rest of society opened up, and even now, kids playing in programs with LA Parks and Rec are forced to mask and show proof of vaccination when playing indoor sports.  

The rule is a holdover from outdated city guidelines (the SAFER LA order, revised in April) but no one has spoken out to revise this order to align with County, CDC and LAUSD policies. It is unscientific, ridiculous, and abusive towards children who have always been the least at risk and most severely impacted by COVID restrictions.  THIS POLICY SHOULD CHANGE IMMEDIATELY.
