Since beginning this petition more than two weeks ago, we continue to see even more issues emerging from the administration of justice across Los Angeles County under the leadership of Sheriff Alex Villanueva.  The main purpose of this petition is to spread the word that a RECALL of the Sheriff is a genuine possibility if people take action. 

We want to make the voters of Los Angeles County aware that they can positively change our government through lawful, participatory democracy if they choose to do so.  That their individual voices and votes have impact, and anyone can lead a conversation for positive change.

Over the weekend, I received word that another person leading efforts to persuade this Sheriff to change his policies called our effort "folly" in an email to her supporters.  She stated that a RECALL of the Sheriff would cost too much money, and in her characterization, "the massive number of signatures is better spent elsewhere".  I applaud her effort to save her local Sheriff station, but I reject her assertion that getting citizens and community members interested in participating in a democratic process to critically evaluate leaders is ever wasteful, or worse, "folly".
