HELP US FIGHT RICHMOND COUNCIL TO KEEP OUR INDEPENDENT BUSINESS ALIVE !

The Fallow Deer is a small but mighty independent family run cafe and bar in Teddington, South West London. Our business is our livelihood which we have worked tirelessly on to make a success since day one. We employ many local staff who have become more like family over the past few years and thanks to our amazing team we have won many awards and gained a huge local following. We have all pumped blood, sweat and tears in to The Fallow Deer from the start and to have our A3 license taken away after all of this hard work would be an absolute travesty.

When we opened we were granted a two year A3 license to be able to run as a cafe/restaurant and were led to believe by a Planning Officer that at the end of those two years it would be highly probable that an extension would be agreed, hence our significant (not only financial but also emotional) investment into the business. We believe we have been grievously misled on this matter. When we applied for our extension to our license it was refused by Richmond Council citing the DMP Policy (DMTC3-c) which states that in our particular high street it is not acceptable to have more than two restaurants/cafes in a row. This policy purports to protect the 'vitality and vibrancy' of this part of Teddington, when in reality, it does exactly the opposite. Might I add, that we are led to believe this ridiculous rule only applies to a total of 6 parades of shops in the entire borough. As usual LBRuT seems to want to stifle creativity, enterprise and small businesses instead of supporting and helping us thrive.

We pray that with the help of everyone signing this petition The Fallow Deer can continue on and prosper, not only for our business, but for our incredible staff, our loyal customers and for our community as a whole. LBRuT should allow us to continue to provide exactly the kind of vitality and vibrancy so vital to the ongoing prosperity of Teddington High Street.

Much love to all,

Mother Deer
