The conditions that the Gentoo Penguins are being kept in at the London Sea Life Aquarium are cruel and inhumane. Their enclosure is small, impersonal and has no  natural light or vegetation. These charming, intelligent and curious animals spend 12 hours a day pacing up and down their prison. They are passionate swimmers and divers but the trickle of water running through their enclosure does not allow for either. And this is happening in Central London, a city that prides itself on its progressiveness and humanity. Conditions need to be dramatically improved for these defenseless creatures or an alternative home needs to be found for them. Animals are not here for our entertainment.
