The response below shows we are agitating and raising the profile of our cause. Disappointed the office of traffic commissioner can not respond as you will read response below. Dear Mr Manir RE: Petition to the Traffic Commissioner for London and South East Thank you for your email to the Traffic Commissioner for London and the South East regarding the petition that you posted regarding the bullying of drivers. The traffic commissioners have no power to change legislation or take action on a petition but Unite the Union will be aware of all traffic commissioners’ commitment to safety and whilst the jurisdiction does not specifically refer to the safety of employees, she would be concerned to find any issues that undermine compliance with the operator licensing system. Traffic commissioners primarily rely on evidence provided to them by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which is one of the relevant investigatory bodies with responsibility for some of the issues raised in your petition. In addition, there are bodies with the statutory right of objection, in this case Local Authorities, should they believe that an applicant for a licence does not meet the requirements set out in the legislation. You should note that it would only be possible to take regulatory action against an operator if there was sufficient evidence presented to a traffic commissioner of a breach of the legal requirements. If you have concerns regarding the compliance of a specific operator I would recommend that you advise the DVSA directly (Enquiries@dvsa.gov.uk) who will consider the appropriate action to take.” Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me. Yours sincerely John Furzeland Office of the Traffic Commissioner The next stop will be the DVSA. We will change our petition title "To DVSA | Prevent bus companies from bullying drivers". Please keep sharing. The fight goes on... In solidarity Moe A London Bus Driver
