Stop overdevelopment in South Woodford and no TOWER BLOCKS on Station Estate

Stop overdevelopment in South Woodford and no TOWER BLOCKS on Station Estate
The Issue
South Woodford is under attack from Redbridge council planners who want to see higher density and tower blocks in our area. It will change the essential character and suburban nature of South Woodford and the charm of our Victorian stock will be lost among the vast new buildings.
We told Redbridge planners a tower block on Station Estate would be out of keeping with the existing buildings and would stick out like a sore thumb. We said we do not want the housing density increased by 4x current levels. The Council ignored our views and has earmarked the Station Estate for a 12 storey tower block as well as being packed with other buildings for 1-2 bedroom flats. This will set a precedent for other developers in the area and give the go ahead for more tall buildings to match Ilford Town centre.
South Woodford has already undergone massive changes over the last 10 years and the overdevelopment continues in spite of the large housing developments of Queen Mary Gate, Regency Court and the old Dairy site along Chigwell Road. Locals have to put up with the awful traffic, packed tubes and buses, lack of school places, huge waiting times to see a doctor and very little in the way of community services. Yes we need more accommodation but there MUST be infrastructure to support the additional population.
We will challenge the Council at the next council meeting to put a stop to this type of development but we need your support. Please help us and join the petition
