There is a large push to limit medical and religious freedoms in Colorado.
With recent attention on childhood illnesses (rephrased as preventable diseases), children are being targeted and discriminated against. Many of these children have parents who have religious exemptions on file, some use the philosophical exemption, as they are not affiliated with any religion.

To limit these exemptions in any way, or to place conditions on these exemptions would be a gross violation of human rights, as well as a religious rights violation under the Constitution.

If, on a federal level, the Affordable Care Act health care mandates allow for exemptions based on religious affiliation, and on the basis of enrollment in a religious health sharing plan, so also should any state level medically related issue allow for religious exemptions.

The children affected by Bill HB19-1312 are not being given a voice, either. Their bodily autonomy should be respected until they are of an age where they can make an informed decision.

HB19-1312 would violate human rights and religious liberties.

Families should absolutely be allowed to use their own verbiage for exemptions, since the reasons for abstaining from vaccination are so diverse. The standard verbiage in the suggested exemption forms applies to virtually none of the families who abstain from vaccination. In signing the current state exemption form, families would agree (they do not) that they understand vaccines are one of the greatest public health achievements of the century, and they understand that by declining vaccination for their children, the children may be at greater risk of infection for those illnesses. This is neither true, nor applicable to the families who abstain from vaccination. If I can't conscionably inject myself with something (bovine syrup, preservatives, etc), I am morally inclined to refrain from injecting it into someone else, especially a child.
