I have sent over this information to Rusty Surette at KBTX News in hopes that we can possible get some answers!
A Nextdoor post that has gotten some attention, and added to the information bank:
Just a few quotes from my neighbors:
“I am barely making it on my fixed income now; there’s no way I can afford any increases. My family is all gone, and I wouldn’t have anywhere to move my home if I needed to.”
“Please do your homework on these Mhp companies they are getting over on tenant raising lot fees & not providing decent housing or living conditions for families. There are so many other cities and people filing class action lawsuits against this very issue we having now. I live in Ramblewood Mhp same issues but now they are trying to do something to fix the situation the problem is nobody speaks up when it’s time to.”
“And there’s no explanation of why almost a [doubled] increase!”
“Now, I must decide what is in my best interest as an older (age-wise) widowed tenant who is not planning to sell anytime soon. Obviously, we don't know what the future may bring and plans can change. We also don't know what kind of rent increase may be levied on those of us who are staying here.”
“I was concerned because I had looked at homes in other Medallion Communities that were for sale trying to get some info about them and I saw that the lot rents were ridiculously high. I know this is quite common - bigger corporations buying up communities and raising rents, sometimes to the point of pricing people out of their homes.”
