Hello campaigners,

The latest update:

We have now spent over 6+ hours on the phone to the Midcoast council and Parks NSW trying to get answers. The Midcoast council have said they know nothing about this incident and have said it's Parks NSW. We've called Parks NSW many times and each person has said they know nothing about the aerial spraying either. No one is being accountable for what has happened.

We've sent an email to both the Midcoast council and NSW Parks on the same thread to get a clear answer and transparency from both of them, see below for what was sent.

In good news, the EPA has already lodged an investigation on the aerial spraying and the DPI Fisheries are across this also.

Please follow @beaswax_ for all updates and @savethebees

If you can, please contact the Midcoast council and Parks NSW for answers, their contact info is below.

Email sent to the Midcoast council and Parks NSW:

To the relevant member of the Midcoast council and Parks NSW,

I hope this email finds you well.

I have spent 6+ hours on the phone trying to figure out who is responsible for the aerial spraying. Midcoast Council have said it's Parks NSW and Parks NSW have said they know nothing about the matter. No one is being held accountable.

I'm writing to you today as the public are very concerned. We have footage and evidence of the aerial spraying you and the council have been conducting along the NSW coast - Seal Rocks, Crowdy Head and Old Bar (I have been told four different things from four different council members on where the spraying has occurred). This information is not clearly outlined anywhere online or is accessible to the public.

Not only have you been spraying Glyphosate via helicopter you have also been using it off label and not sticking to any of the guidelines. The off target damage has been massive and non-repairable. This carcinogenic spray is not only damaging to the wildlife but is also linked to cancer in humans, see here.

We've pulled a report and there are 304+ indigenous species of bees that live in this area, glyphosate isn't meant to kill bees, but it does. These 304+ native bee habitats are now threatened.

Can you please send me the chemical/s which were used and also the chemical safety data sheets.

A few questions we need answered immediately:

1. Did you make an attempt to tell the traditional custodians of the land that the spraying was occurring?

2. How did you inform the Indigenous communities and the public that the spraying was happening?

3. Is it true that you only use signage for the day of spraying and then take it down? This is not alerting people properly

4. We need the safety data sheets of the chemical/s used

5. We need a map of the areas which have been sprayed

There are alternative methods to using a carcinogenic spray - either slasher or steam weed control. Europe and parts of the U.S. have banned this spray - why are you still using it?

Everyone needs answers. Can you provide a statement on this matter urgently.

Thanks,

The concerned public
