Papa John’s is in the midst of a massive leadership shakeup, beginning with the appointment of a new CEO. But what caught our attention most is the company’s recruitment of a chief vegan officer in the UK! Help US Papa John’s catch up with its European wing: Submit a quick, polite comment on its website asking the chain for vegan cheese TODAY!

In September, Papa John’s appointed a new CEO, Rob Lynch, who’s already getting down to business by appointing a new chief commercial & marketing officer and a chief operating officer for North America. But the headline that generated the most buzz? Papa John’s UK is currently seeking a chief vegan officer to taste-test new recipes and keep up with plant-based trends!

This move comes as no surprise because across the Atlantic, Papa John’s is already recognizing the sizzling demand for vegan food. The chain’s UK branch recently launched not one, but three vegan pizza flavors, along with marmite scrolls--and sold out within 24 hours. It followed up with the addition of cheesy potato wedges, and now it’s even offering vegan cinnamon scrolls.

But Papa John’s US is falling behind by serving misery with every single slice of mozzarella.  Each year, over a half million cows languish on dairy farms, forcibly impregnated and separated from their babies, to churn out milk for Papa John’s cheese supplier Leprino Foods. 

And the chain’s new CEO has a long history of cozying up with the animal agriculture industry as Arby’s former president, including his famed “We have the meats” slogan and his insistence that Arby’s not cater to the sizzling demand for vegan meats.  

It’s up to us to make sure that Papa John’s US doesn’t follow in Arby’s footsteps and instead gets the hint from its UK branch that the plant-powered revolution is here to stay!
