Hey all!

As you may know I have a cat, her name is Katy and she is my companion. I suffer from anxiety and MDD, she has always been by my side and has done more for me than any mental health professional. She is very much a reason why I fight and try to become a better, stronger version of myself.

Recently I have found out that my step-father is planning to give her away for very trivial and easily remedied reasons. He claims that she is unhappy in our house (we recently moved) because she used to be an outdoors cat and now we live on a first floor apartment. It is true that she has been acting quite antsy and stressed from not being able to go outside; she is clawing up our carpets and running around the house.

However, as someone that spends more time with her than anyone else in this household, I have noticed a significant decrease in these stressful behaviors. Studies have shown that an outdoor cat can easily become and indoor cat with time and conditioning, the first interval between the transition maybe stressful for the cat but otherwise, it is safe and has been successful. Furthermore, a domesticated animal is much more safe being in the home rather than outside where they are exposed to predators, parasites and even vehicles. 

Katy plays a large role in my life and I know my step-father cannot say the same for himself, as she is more attached to me and I am the person she spends most of her time with. He refuses to listen to my claims and is insistent on giving her away. I am currently looking for a job and I have offered to pay for her expenses and the damages to the carpet. I am more than capable of taking care of her and I am devoted to keeping her happy and safe. I usually never ask for favors but I am on my knees. I would die for this cat. Please help me out!

TLDR; stepdad trying to give away my cat that is pretty much my therapy cat because of trivial reasons that are pretty much resolving itself right now. I am willing to chip in as much money as I can from my savings to keep her + i will find a job. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!
