It is now the third week of school and many of the classrooms still do not have air conditioning. Just imagine sitting in a school the size of LHS with no a/c, no fans and still being expected to focus on your school work? There are anywhere from 25 to 30 students in a room at a time sitting in rows that are too close to walk down without scooting sideways. You can rest assured that all of the offices are air conditioned at the school just as the offices at the ESC are. I am more than sure that if the a/c wasn't working in those offices there would have been a alternate plan for keeping those individuals cool. Not only are our regular students sitting in this heat but also our special education students are being made to suffer. I am sure the ADA would be interested in this information. It is actually cooler mid-day outside than it is in the main building. I continue to be baffled at the extent LISD will go to save a buck. What has happened to the safe environment policy? What about students who suffer from asthma or other medical issues, not to mention the teachers and many elderly substitutes ? I suggest we have those administrators and school board members who are sitting in the comfort and coolness of their offices come and sit in those class rooms for 90 minutes at a time. Dr Wilcox get off your self- righteous ass, and fix this issue now. I will not stand by and let out students, teachers, and staff suffer in unsafe conditions . If these problems are not corrected within the week, as a taxpayer in the district and concerned parent I myself will visit the school with the local media and ask why these problems are not being fixed . LISD board, and Dr. Wilcox DON'T POKE THE BEAR!
