So the Longview Voice has started it's publication. This paper was created so that it could show the positive things that are being done in our schools and hiding the truth of the real issues going on in the LISD district. I read this article by Scott Milder that made me laugh, now let me try to break this article down. First of all I do not have a problem paying a superintendent good money if he does a good job, but ours doesn't deserve a dime. Mr. Milder states " Do superintendents make more than teachers? Sure they do. Do they make more than most private sector CEO’s? Absolutely not, yet they are responsible for every bit as much and in many cases a whole lot more than their CEO counterparts. They lead the largest workforce in nearly every town. They manage the largest portfolio of facilities in every town. They also run the largest food service program and transportation system in town. They work nights and weekends year-round. And, they report to seven bosses known as school board members who represent the voters in their communities." So by reading this I see more than a few issues. We have a man not allowed by the state to work over 20 hours a week and makes $100,000 a year. The responsibilities this man has as stated in the above quote from Milder's article are not being accomplished , he has failed in retaining teachers, solving transportation issues, and lunch programs, and i'm sure he doesn't work nights and weekends due to the fact he works only 20 hours a week, unless as Dr. Mack said "he can run the school from his lake house." Also he does not have to answer to the board, we have seen that he tells them how its going to run, and for them to just deal with the angry parents. So maybe this article is true for a school district who has a full-time superintendent, but LISD's superintendent is a big joke. Let's not forget all the special needs children in the district that don't get the care they need. This administration is a panel of followers, with not a leader among them, we need leaders to strive for children's education, our teachers and staff's well-being , and who will find a suitable person to run our district, let's get rid of the many assistant superintendence, and put that money back into our school. We are top heavy, and when this happens it's time trim off the fat! Help the community find leaders to run for the school board, lets get rid of the good ole boys and take our district back! I know I will be running against Dr. Camp for district 1. Please continue to sign and share this petition. We can control our children's education, and can create a better work environment for our teachers and staff. Help stop the reign of this joke of a superintendent. Thank You, Jason Bates
