Last night when I got home from work there was a letter from Judson informing my wife and I that my daughters AP science class had a substitute teaching the class for over 30 days. Also in this letter it explained that this substitute teacher was not certified by the district to teach this class. It is a state law that the school inform the parents of this situation. So my daughter worked her butt off to be in this class, and is not being taught by an accredited teacher. So tell me again Dr. Mack and Dr.Wilcox that our district is better than it has ever been. Why can you not find a teacher to hire? The answer is right in front of you. NO ONE WANTS TO WORK FOR THIS DISTRICT! If our district was as in good shape as you say it is, then this should not be an issue. Why do you hide the obvious? I have talked with teacher's who retired from the district over 10 years ago, and believe it or not the same problems exist today that did 10 years ago. I understand all district's still have their issues, but LISD has issues that can be fixed, but are not. You only want people in the community to hear all the good things the district is doing, but not tackle the real task at hand, bettering our teacher's resources and educating our children. It seems to me the more problems you have, the more you want to cover it up with the good things that happen in the schools, but sooner or later the bad will overrun the good, and you will be faced with a larger issue. Fix them now before it gets to far out of hand. Take care of the individuals that educate or children and you will see the positive results. Without quality teachers and staff you will see a poor education of our children. Working as an engineer in a large manufacturing facility I ask my workers on the floor before I make any changes in the building process, by doing this I'm able to make the correct decisions to not only make their job easier, but make a better quality item for my customers. By following this process you will increase the children's education, and make your teacher's jobs easier. Once this happens your demands for teachers will drop because their work environment has changed in a positive way. Thank you, Jason Bates
