NextEra has filed an application for project 1 & project 2 with the Iowa Utilities Board. This is one step in the process, they need approval from both the state and the Linn County. No application has been filed with the Linn County to-date.
We need you support of opposition to let the state know that our community opposes the development of industrial-scale solar on agricultural lands and near our residential communities. Our way of life and what we value is at risk. Industrial-scale solar installations belong on industrial or commercially zoned areas.
Here are maps that are included in the application filing so that you can see how these first two projects are going to negatively impact the rural character of the Palo community and the adjacent non-participating landowners who are at risk of being forced to trade peaceful country living for the feeling of confinement with 7 ft industrial fencing and the views of 300,000+ black glass solar panels.
