On September 12th a child was hit crossing Kent Drive while walking home from Hall-Kent School. There was no crosswalk, no supervision, no speed bumps to help him move safely through the block-long line of waiting cars to the other side of the street, where he and fifteen to twenty other children live. In the afternoon, these children must pick their way through the long, waiting line of cars and then dart across the street, hoping not to be hit by a much more swiftly moving line of traffic leaving the school. In the morning, cars speeding to drop-off present an equally dangerous situation. These dangerous conditions must be addressed before any other children are injured.

The goal of this petition is to get measures put in place so our children can walk safely to and from school. These measures could include: a crosswalk with a flashing light at the intersection of Cobb and Kent or possibly in the middle of the block, a second side walk on the south side of Kent Drive, speed bumps, more caution signs, or only one-way traffic during carpool hours.
