Pro-EU Parties Should Work Together in the EU Elections.

The Issue

The European elections are upon us. At this crucial time when a disastrous Brexit is faltering, we have the chance to send a clear and uncompromising message that there is a strong remain voice in the UK and it wants the madness to stop.

The problem is that several smaller parties have all stepped forward with the intention of being that voice, and as such the vote is split. The mathematics of the system means that by fighting each other we are more likely to all loose. This simply rolls out the red carpet for Nigel Farage, The Brexit Party and UKIP.

The Anti-Brexit parties are diverse and their long term goals may not all align. But right here and right now, we should all be united with one goal. To speak with one voice, so send that strong message that we are Europeans and we will not bow meekly to the far right.

We the undersigned are making an appeal directly to the leadership of the Remain parties in the UK:

The Liberal Democrats

The Greens

Change UK

The Scottish National Party

Plaid Cymru

Whatever your differences and disagreements, whatever else may come between you, if there was ever a moment to put differences aside and stand united on one issue, this is that time. You have all spoken of wanting to change politics. Well what is better way to start than uniting when it really matters. That would be something new and exciting in UK politics.

We ask that you put your heads together and find a way to pool your strength and resources in each region to produce a united list. A list of candidates drawn from all parties where everyone can get a seat at the table.

Potentially a different party could sponsor the list in each region. For example the London list could be put forward by The Green Party and contain members from all parties. The North West by The Liberal Democrats with candidates from all parties and so on. We refuse to believe that it is beyond your collective abilities to produce a solution. If we can march together across parties we should be able to stand together too.

In conclusion, this is a moment where we can either pull together to make a big change or dilute ourselves and loose to the "Brexit Parties".
If working together is what it takes, isn't that a price worth paying?
