We the undersigned call on Santander to abandon their plans to close both Forest Hill and Sydenham branches.

Both Santander branches in Sydenham and Forest Hill are facing closure in June 2018. This will leave many people without a local bank and employees without a job. Among the reasons for the closures are the diminishing numbers of young people using the branches. However, Santander’s own statistics show that the closure of these branches will leave some of the most vulnerable and businesses without access to local banking facilities.

We think that keeping these branches open will allow both personal and business account members access to facilities in their local areas. Furthermore, the closure of both of these branches means that the nearest branch will be in Beckenham or Catford with no facilities remaining in these adjoining towns. We are campaigning to save these branches so that people will have local banking in their own towns.
