Today being 26 Aug 2022, Lexico was closed as per their previous announcement. But that should not deter us from our efforts at pressurising them to reverse their decisions.

Close to 215 petitions, as of now ... But we need more ...

Thank you again for showing up and signing the petition!

A few of the signatories also cared to write some excellent reasons for signing this petition.

Below I am sharing a screenshot carrying three of the latest comments.

I still need you. Please share this petition with your friends. It concerns us, the writers, the editors, the content developers, the publishers, the academics, the English-language teachers, ELT trainers and all others using English language professionally, especially the UK variety of English. In fact, anyone who loves the English language should sign this petition. Anyone who believes that knowledge should be freely accessible should sign this petition.

Ultimately, this petition ensures that our jobs as English-language professionals remain safe. Without free access to an authoritative reference like Oxford Dictionaries, we will lose our stones using which we sharpen our axes.

With close to 215 signatures, we are a bit short of forming a compelling strength. Please share the petition as widely as possible. Each signature counts. Together, we will win!

Also, you may read my latest article here.

Thank you again!

Regards,

Ranjit K Sharma
