For many of us living in Lafitte, Barataria, and Crown Point, skyrocketing HOMEOWNERS/FLOOD INSURANCE has become UNAFFORDABLE.

My friends, neighbors, and I have witnessed firsthand the financial strain these premiums impose on our lives. This crisis is not just personal but community-wide, threatening all of us.

Louisiana's homeowners insurance rates rank among the highest in the nation, with a troubling trend showing no sign of decreasing.

This escalation is forcing longtime homeowners to consider selling their homes, and it significantly hampers the possibility of new families moving into our area because of "the high insurance". 

The statistics are alarming. According to a recent report, the average homeowners insurance premium in Louisiana is approximately 45% higher than the national average. This trend stems from increased frequency and intensity of natural disasters, such as hurricanes and flooding. As insurance companies adjust their risk assessments, it is ultimately the homeowners who bear the financial burden.

We urgently need a realistic and sustainable solution to this issue. We are appealing to Louisiana's insurance regulators, our elected government officials, and insurance companies to collaborate in order to stabilize and ideally reduce these exorbitant insurance rates. 

This petition calls for an immediate investigation into the pricing practices of insurance companies operating in Louisiana. We must scrutinize their justification for such high premiums and ensure transparency in their operations.
