In this the year of the 2012 London Olympics, it behooves the International Olympic Committee to recognise that most venerable of British traditions, Cheese Rolling, as an official Olympic sport.

It certainly beats competitive walking, synchronised swimming, ‘DanceSport’ and any number of namby-pamby pastimes already recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

It would also give ‘teamGB’ a chance to win Olympic gold in a sport more riveting than rowing, curling or, er, skeet shooting.
