This is important because supermarkets and newsagents display these magazines in such as a way as to attract the attention of as many people as possible. The covers of these magazines are becoming more and more explicit, and are increasing the dangers of the sexualisation of young children.

Letter to
Department for Culture, Media and Sport Rt Hon Maria Miller MP
There has been a growing, and rather concerning trend in the sexualisation of young children within our country. Whilst there are a number of different reasons for this, it is clear that one of the growing areas of concern for both parents and children are the sale of 'Lads Mags', such as Nuts, Loaded and Zoo.

Currently, there are no restrictions for how a supermarket or newsagent displays these magazines to its customer base. Many sellers make the choice to display these magazines in such a way as to gain the most attention. Sadly, the covers of these magazines are becoming more and more explicit and, with no safeguards in place, young children are exposed to the very mixed or negative messages these magazines send out.

It is so vitally important that we have some safeguards in place, and we propose that all magazines of this kind MUST be displayed and sold within a 'Modesty Wrap'. This plastic wrapper would hide all explicit images on the cover, but would leave the magazine title visible.

Yours sincerely
