As a result of our group's letter to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian requesting that civil society should also be invited in the senate inquiry on the energy crisis in Palawan, the senator declared that they will instead hold a public hearing in Puerto Princesa City so the people can participate. The initial senate inquiry held last August 3, 2017, identified the inability of DMCI (coal proponent) to supply continuous power (using diesel and bunker) since 2013 as the biggest cause of the constant power outages in Palawan. DMCI, with its dismal business track record should not be allowed to operate anymore in Palawan. For non-compliance with its power supply agreement, its contract should have been terminated a long time ago per Senator Win Gatchalian. The Senator also told DMCI not to expect coal anymore to happen in Palawan because people don't want it.
