We thank you so much for your support in what this program is going through currently. The amount of support has been truly amazing to see from the cheer and dance communities as well as everyone else who has signed and supported.

The university has made a statement regarding the incident that has caused the spirit program as a whole to be removed from nationals. They have cited that the reason is hazing, a crime in Texas.

Many alumni, who know the events that lead to this due to being a member on the teams, feel that what occurred (the details will not be shared for privacy), still does not justify the punishment being placed upon the program.

Hazing is wrong and we do not condone this behavior. If more serious events occurred those individuals should be dealt with as such, individuals.

Sam Houston takes this action with other crimes as well in which members of athletics are treated as individuals and punished for their actions alone. Why is spirit programs as a whole being punished instead?

We maintain our position to allow the spirit programs as a whole to compete in the UCA/NCA/NDA nationals competition in 2023 and will continue to promote our message #LetSHSUCompete
