We are thrilled to let you know Luc Tardif, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced today the Women’s U18 World Hockey Championship has been rescheduled and will be held in June 2022!
In addition to the Women’s World Championship, the Men’s World Juniors will be re-played from start to finish in August 2022.
This is such welcome news to the thousands of players, coaches, fans, families and supporters from around the world. By rescheduling the U18 Women’s World Championship, the IIHF is sending a clear message that they believe in women’s hockey and are committed to investing in young players.
Going forward, we hope the IIHF will continue to prioritize both men’s and women’s tournaments equally and endeavor to seek solutions that will always allow for rescheduling over canceling, and treat all tournaments with the same honor and respect every single player deserves.
Thank you to the +86,300 people who took the time to sign the petition and include your heartfelt comments. Your voices were heard and this important women’s tournament has been rescheduled thanks to your overwhelming show of support. The puck will drop!
