It was exactly 80 years ago the BoC was nationalized, and this year they're being recognized as central bank of the year. It must be understood, the BoC is not some evil institution, it is full of well-meaning people trying their best to measure inflation and stabilize our currency, they've just all been indoctrinated in the same neoliberal ideology and mistakenly think the way they're doing things is the best way. The real problem is that the only tool left in their box to combat inflation is interest rates, and that greater use of the BoC is a political decision, and current governments have no interest in using it more fully. And despite the fact it's an equality engine vacuuming wealth for the 1%, our private banking system is solid and the envy of the world, and much of that has to do with the BoC doing its job every day.
