Eknath Shinde led government has given many excuses citing technical & operational impediments in shifting Metro car shed from Aarey to Kanjurmarg.
A simulation study, commissioned by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in early 2021 -- to “examine the technical feasibility of operational integration of Metro lines 3 and 6” -- had found that integrating the two lines, with a common car-shed at Kanjurmarg, would not only be operationally feasible but would result in a “robust” and “resilient” timetable in which running trains would be able to recover from any “small deviations of their scheduled times which are part of real operations.”
How many lies will the government make in order to destroy a pristine forest to commercialization & concretisation? They lied Aarey is not a forest, they will not cut a single tree, Metro absorbs more carbon than trees, Kanjurmarg is not a suitable site for car shed, activists are anti-nationals, etc. Their every lie have been exposed time and again with evidence. The latest being Kanjurmarg site as not a viable option for Metro car shed has been exposed by the expert committee report.
"It is sad to see that a proper, scientifically modelled study, which has successfully demonstrated the viability of the integrated depot and metro lines, is being cast aside by the current government with the Centre’s backing,” said Zoru Bhatena, an activist supporting of Save Aarey movement.
