Job Ageism, Ethics and Recruitment Agencies

Some of us have been naive enough to believe that the role of recruitment agencies is to help us get a job. Others may be cynical but realistic about the commercial imperatives that dominate the day to day operations of some recruitment agencies. One thing is for sure that if a recruitment agency is ageist, unethical or judgmental in its pre-screening and interviewing processes, it is actually doing a disservice for it's client, the fee paying employer. That is irrespective of how much the employer claims to welcome and support an inclusive and diverse workforce. Yes, I have had my wrinkles studied as a recruiter has attempted to guess my age. This article says it all http://indaily.com.au/opinion/2017/05/11/calculus-despair-recruiters-condemn-older-workers-unemployment/
