Click to take action – UK residents: http://ow.ly/CuiC309FRnN EU residents (outside UK): http://ow.ly/TnSo309FRsK In January, the European Parliament’s Environment Committee made the landmark decision to support ambitious targets to halve EU food waste by 2030, which are (mainly) farm to fork. This is a huge step forward, and we couldn’t have done this without your support – the 60,000 people and 49 organisations from across 17 countries who’ve called on the EU to halve food waste. So thank you! But the targets proposed by the Envi Committee are not binding, which means they might not be taken as seriously by some member states, and some of the mountains of food wasted on farms are not currently included within the target. Now it’s the big one – the European Parliament as a whole will be voting on 14th March to decide their position before they go into negotiations with the Council and Commission to thrash out the final agreement. We need to call on them to build on the great work of the Environment Committee by backing up their targets, but also calling for the targets to be fully farm-to-fork and legally binding!
